Location: Greater London

Asset Engineer (Renewals and Enhancements)

On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for an Asset Engineer (Renewals and Enhancements) for a 3 month contract based on a hybrid schedule of 2 days a week in London (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and the rest from home.

Responsibilities
  • Support the production and prioritisation of the national business plan.
  • Develop allocated renewal and enhancement schemes to meet Network Rail’s goals prior to handover to delivery, and thereafter support the development and implementation of projects to confirm renewal requirements are sufficient, correctly interpreted and any changes agreed.
  • Specify acceptance criteria for engineering works, including design approval, equipment acceptance and hand‑back to maintenance as appropriate; audit acceptance processes to ensure they are discharged properly.
  • Work with other asset management teams to review renewal and enhancement proposals, optimising engineering activity across the railway infrastructure system and identifying critical technical problems.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geology.
  • Experience in design review.
  • Understanding of cost‑management principles, with the ability to assess cost implications and their impact on overall business objectives.
  • Railway experience.
