Senior Highway Engineer – London
OverviewWe are looking for a Senior Highway Engineer to lead technically challenging projects and shape the future of urban environments. The role focuses on detailed highway designs, public realm and active travel schemes across London and the UK.
The OpportunityAs Senior Highway Engineer you will take a leading role in the delivery of highway designs across a wide variety of urban infrastructure projects. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, providing technical leadership and overseeing project delivery from feasibility through to construction support. Projects include active travel schemes, public realm improvements, streetscape enhancement projects, traffic and transportation infrastructure, sustainable urban highway schemes and transport planning studies.
Responsibilities- Lead the design and delivery of highways and public realm projects from concept through to implementation.
- Produce and review detailed highway designs in accordance with DMRB, TfL Streetscape Guidance, LTN 1/20, LCDS, TSRGD and other industry standards.
- Prepare and review AutoCAD design packages and technical drawings.
- Manage statutory undertaker utility diversion processes from initial enquiry to coordinated implementation.
- Produce technical reports for clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
- Apply CDM 2015 requirements throughout the design process.
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
- Mentor and support junior engineers.
- Lead project delivery, ensuring programmes, budgets and quality standards are achieved.
- Support business growth by maintaining client relationships and identifying future opportunities.
- Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience delivering highway engineering projects within a consultancy.
- Strong technical knowledge of DMRB, TfL Streetscape Guidance, LTN 1/20, LCDS, TSRGD and associated design standards.
- Advanced AutoCAD design experience with detailed engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of Civil 3D.
- Excellent report writing and technical communication skills.
- Strong understanding of CDM 2015 responsibilities.
- Project management and multidisciplinary team coordination experience.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng), Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward accreditation.
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per year (dependent on experience).
