Lead Engineer, Maintenance Technician ​/ Mechanic

Lead Engineer – The London Independent Hospital, Stepney Green. The position is full‑time (37.5 hours per week), permanent, and offers a salary of up to £49,000 per year, depending on experience, training and qualification.

• Ensure the safe and effective completion of all Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive Maintenance tasks in line with Circle Health Group Standard Operating Procedures.
• Manage the engineering response to building and equipment faults, ensuring timely and safe resolution with minimal disruption to hospital services.
• Oversee the delivery of EBME maintenance routines so that all medical equipment is serviced and safe for use.
• Provide day‑to‑day leadership and line‑management of engineering operatives within the hospital.
• Allocate tasks, monitor performance, and ensure training and competency standards are maintained.
• Promote a positive working culture that supports professional development, safety and service excellence.

• City & Guilds Part 3, HNC or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• CSCS card or ECS card (if electrically qualified) at the appropriate level.
• Proven experience in engineering maintenance, ideally within a hospital or similar critical services environment.
• Experience in team leadership, task allocation and performance management.
• Comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation, including risk management, fire safety and Legionella prevention.
• Strong fault‑finding, organisational and communication skills.
• Desirable: time‑served apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline, Fire Safety or Fire Risk Assessment training, experience managing sub‑contractors and minor works, understanding of energy management systems or environmental reporting, familiarity with Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems.
