Initial 3-month contract, with strong potential to extend to 6 months
We are recruiting on behalf of our client,who is looking for experienced Automation Engineers to join a fast-paced, multi-site automation programme across the UK and Europe.
You will work alongside the client’s in-house engineering and controls teams, supporting PLC code development, implementation, commissioning, testing and continuous improvement across a network of highly automated sites. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Automation or Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, high-impact projects.
Frequent travel across UK will be required.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Developing, testing and commissioning PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal
* Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting on live automated systems
* Leading and contributing to process improvement initiatives
* Integrating and migrating code across Siemens TIA Portal versions
* Supporting the deployment and commissioning of new automation projects
* Acting as a key technical point of contact within a skilled team of contractors and permanent engineers
What We’re Looking For
* 5+ years’ experience coding and commissioning in Siemens TIA
* Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (version 16 and above)
* Experience troubleshooting complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus (Profinet, Profibus, ASi) and IT platforms
* Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex technical issues to a range of stakeholders
* Strong project management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams
* Good written and verbal English
* Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
* Sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices
* Willingness and ability to travel frequently across the UK.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of the Ignition platform for building SCADA/HMI systems
* Familiarity with SCADA and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) concepts
* Ability to analyse performance metrics to drive process optimisation
* Experience leading a change management process
