The RoleYou will contribute to the design and delivery of civil and structural engineering projects, supporting key infrastructure developments within the power, energy and rail sectors.
Key responsibilities include:- Undertaking civil and structural design for infrastructure projects including substation buildings, transformer foundations, gantries, equipment plinths and cable management systems
- Supporting the delivery of highways and drainage packages in coordination with the wider civil engineering team
- Preparing and reviewing calculations, drawings, specifications and design documentation
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant UK standards and sector requirements including Eurocodes, BS EN standards, and relevant power or rail sector specifications
- Participating in design reviews, technical assurance and quality checks
- Ensuring Health & Safety and CDM requirements are embedded throughout the design process
- Supporting projects through all stages from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
- Work closely with civil, structural, geotechnical and electrical engineers to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions
- Contribute to technical discussions and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
- Assist in coordinating design activities across multiple project disciplines
- Support communication with clients, contractors and project stakeholders
- Contribute to delivering technically robust and efficient design solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, sustainability and innovation in project delivery
- Degree (BEng / MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 2+ years' experience within a design consultancy environment
- Currently working towards Chartership with ICE or IStructE
- Strong understanding of UK design codes and engineering standards
- Experience using structural analysis or design software such as Tekla TEDDS, Robot or similar tools
- Strong problem‑solving skills with a practical engineering mindset
- Technically capable with a solution‑focused approach to engineering challenges
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within project teams
- Motivated to deliver a safe, efficient and sustainable infrastructure designs
- A UK driving licence is desirable for occasional site visits and inspections
