Operations is at the heart of everything Amazon does, and reliability is one of the ways we optimise our processes. The Amazon Reliability Maintenance and Engineering team keeps all our equipment in excellent working order, from printers to fully automated sortation systems.
Key Job Responsibilities- Create, innovate and drive projects to deliver reliability, ergonomic, cost and resource-use benefits at European-wide scale.
- Increase standardisation within the network of delivery stations, and future delivery station design.
- Optimize existing equipment/processes and support expansion of new equipment/process from concept to deployment.
- Author and chair reports/business case reviews to document project status and changes with senior leadership.
- Communicate reliability program status and outputs to senior leaders periodically.
- Create strategy for long-term roadmap.
- Implement standards validated by the EU Engineering team and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and equipment availability for internal customers, with a key focus on predictive and preventative maintenance programs.
The role is preferred to be located within Germany (any DS or corporate office). Candidates from outside Germany with relevant experience will be considered, with higher travel schedule.
A Day in the LifeYour day will be varied. Some days at a delivery station learning from our customers in RME, some working on design standards for the next generations of Delivery Stations, some on a new MHE concept/design to improve Amazon reliability, and others managing large-scale deployment projects to our delivery stations. You will work with partners from Operations, Process Improvement, Health and Safety, Ergonomics, Finance, Procurement, Central & Field Reliability and external vendors to design and deploy new equipment and processes in AMZL Delivery Stations.
This requires management of a large number of diverse stakeholders, strong autonomy and the ability to work in ambiguity. You also lead regular communication with executors, project sponsors and senior leaders, requiring detail-oriented, technical and business reporting.
The goal of Amazon Logistics is to build a world class last mile operation, exceeding customer expectations by ensuring orders, large or small, are delivered quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team keeps our equipment performing at its best. We are a technically minded team, made up of excellent team players and guided by experienced leaders. We work together to improve, troubleshoot and standardise equipment across our network of delivery stations, focusing on reducing downtime in Amazon's crucial operations sites, so customers get their orders on time.
BasicQualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in engineering or equivalent, or experience from a technical internship.
- Strong technical background in relevant fields of automated or non-automated material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems design.
- Experience using English communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrable experience with industry standard Root Cause Analysis tools.
- Experience with automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation and conveyor systems.
- Demonstrated experience in project management.
- Work flexible schedule including weekends, nights and holidays.
- Master's degree in engineering, mechanical, operations, supply chain, business administration or equivalent STEM field.
- Experience in Lean Management, Six Sigma and other operations engineering tools.
- Knowledge of PLC based control systems.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
- Comprehensive knowledge of specialized engineering and facilities equipment within the AMZL world, as well as maintenance and safety procedures.
