The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced BOAS Engineer to join a leading Facilities Management organisation supporting a major public sector contract in North West London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified engineer with strong experience in boiler operation, steam systems and mechanical plant to work within a highly regulated and technically demanding environment.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and reliable operation of critical boiler and steam systems, supporting essential services across a large and complex estate.
A Typical Day
As a BOAS Engineer, your day-to-day responsibilities will include operating, monitoring and maintaining commercial and industrial boiler plant, steam systems and associated mechanical services.
You will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, inspections and fault-finding across boilers, steam systems and associated mechanical plant. You will also monitor plant performance, identify potential issues before they lead to breakdowns and support opportunities to improve system efficiency.
The role will involve maintaining equipment such as boiler plant, steam distribution systems, pumps, valves, controls and associated mechanical services, as well as supporting critical heating and hot water systems across the site.
You will be responsible for maintaining accurate boiler logs, maintenance records and compliance documentation, while supporting statutory inspections and ensuring all work is completed in line with BOAS standards, health and safety legislation, site procedures and relevant statutory regulations.
Working as part of a wider multi-skilled Facilities Management team, you may also support general mechanical maintenance activities when required, helping to minimise disruption to critical site operations.
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
* BOAS certification – essential.
* Proven experience working with commercial or industrial boiler plant.
* Strong knowledge of steam systems and associated mechanical services.
* Experience with in Facilities Management, Building Services, Manufacturing, Healthcare, Public Sector or another critical environment.
* Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* A good understanding of health and safety, statutory compliance and operational procedures.
* A proactive and safety-focused approach to engineering maintenance.
* The ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider engineering team.
