Graduate Geologist

Sandberg LLP is seeking an enthusiastic Graduate Geologist to join our highly respected Geology & Geomaterials Department in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent geology graduate to launch their career with one of the UK's leading independent engineering consultancies and materials specialists. You will work alongside experienced geologists and materials specialists on a diverse range of projects involving natural stone, concrete and other construction materials.

From day one, you will receive structured training, mentoring and support, providing a clear pathway for professional development and career progression within the firm.

Our Geology & Geomaterials Department provides UKAS-accredited testing, consultancy and forensic investigations relating to natural stone, concrete and other construction materials. Our work supports some of the UK's most significant infrastructure, heritage and construction projects.

As a Graduate Geologist, your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out routine laboratory testing and sample preparation.
• Examining specimens using petrological and scanning electron microscopes.
• Assisting with petrographic investigations and materials analysis.
• Supporting the preparation of technical reports and client deliverables.
• Maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Working in accordance with UKAS quality standards and procedures.
• Contributing to a wide range of geological and construction-material investigations.

This is a varied, hands-on role that will provide practical experience in laboratory testing, petrographic analysis and construction-material investigations. You will gain exposure to specialist analytical techniques while developing technical expertise alongside some of the UK's leading geomaterials professionals.

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a degree in Geology or a closely related discipline
• Has a keen interest in petrology, mineralogy, engineering geology or the analysis of construction materials.
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Possesses good communication and organisational skills
• Is eager to learn and develop new technical skills
• Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Previous industry experience is not essential, making this role particularly suitable for recent graduates.

The following would be advantageous:

• A full UK driving licence
• Experience of laboratory-based work or microscopy
