A pioneering clean energy technology company is developing advanced electrochemical stack technology to accelerate the transition towards sustainable energy solutions. Their work focuses on creating scalable hardware that can support the next generation of cleaner energy technologies.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to help transform prototype hardware into a reliable, scalable and manufacturable product. The role will focus on improving designs for production, solving build challenges, working with suppliers and manufacturing partners, and establishing the processes needed to support commercial-scale production. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between engineering design and real-world manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities – Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer

  • Support the transition of electrochemical stack hardware from prototype development into scalable manufacturing.
  • Review mechanical designs and provide input on manufacturability, assembly and production readiness.
  • Improve product designs through Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
  • Support prototype builds, manufacturing trials and assembly optimisation.
  • Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to improve part quality, cost and repeatability.
  • Develop manufacturing documentation including drawings, specifications, inspection criteria and acceptance standards.
  • Define tolerances, quality requirements and inspection processes for mechanical components.
  • Investigate build issues, failures and manufacturing challenges through structured root cause analysis.
  • Support engineering change processes, design reviews and product improvements.
  • Help establish scalable manufacturing processes as the company grows.

Experience & Skills – Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, product development or manufacturing engineering roles.
  • Proven experience taking hardware from prototype through to production.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes and assembly methods.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DfM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and production optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, tolerances, GD&T and quality requirements.
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers or external production partners.
  • Hands-on experience supporting builds, testing and manufacturing problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing and supplier teams.
  • Experience with in energy technology, electrochemical systems, batteries, fuel cells or similar hardware is highly advantageous.
