I'm currently working with a well-regarded South London local authority that is looking to appoint an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to support its fire safety compliance programme across a diverse residential portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified fire safety professional to play a key role in ensuring statutory compliance, improving resident safety and supporting the delivery of robust fire risk management across a large housing stock.
The Role
You will be responsible for undertaking and reviewing Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), identifying fire safety risks, advising on appropriate remedial actions and supporting the council's wider fire safety compliance objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting Fire Risk Assessments across residential and mixed-use properties.
Reviewing existing FRAs and validating the quality of completed assessments.
Identifying fire safety deficiencies and recommending practical solutions.
Supporting the management of fire safety remediation programmes.
Carrying out inspections and audits across the property portfolio.
Providing technical fire safety advice to internal teams and contractors.
Monitoring the completion of fire safety actions and maintaining compliance records.
Supporting regulatory inspections and audits when required.
About You
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
Demonstrable experience carrying out Fire Risk Assessments across residential buildings.
A recognised Fire Risk Assessment qualification (Level 3, Level 4 or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of:
Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
Fire Safety Act 2021
Building Safety Act 2022
Relevant British Standards and fire safety guidance
Experience producing high-quality FRA reports and prioritising recommendations.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Social housing, local authority or housing association experience.
Desirable Experience
Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with:
Higher-Risk Residential Building (HRB) experience.
Building Safety Act implementation experience.
Passive fire protection and compartmentation survey knowledge.
Experience managing fire safety remediation projects.
Membership of the IFE, IFSM or a similar professional body.
Experience reviewing the work of other assessors.
Rate
£350 to £450 per day depending on experience.
Candidates with extensive HRB, Building Safety and complex residential portfolio experience will be considered at the upper end of the range.
