Description and Main Purpose of Job:

The Hotel Engineer is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation, maintenance and monitoring of hotel and accommodation-related technical systems, ensuring guest comfort and service quality, while supervising the assigned team under the direction of the Staff Engineer.

Plan, supervise and carry out maintenance, inspections and monitoring of assigned hotel systems, ensuring safe, efficient and reliable operation in line with operational and guest comfort requirements, in coordination with the Staff Engineer and with the support of assigned hotel engineering personnel. Perform regular inspections of machinery spaces and accommodation areas to verify proper operation, condition and cleanliness of equipment. Supervise and manage assigned hotel engineering personnel, ensuring safe working practices, proper task execution and high housekeeping standards.

Manage hotel-related defect reporting and follow-up
, including the identification, recording, prioritization, tracking and closure of non-electrical defects in Shipsure, in coordination with the Hotel Department and under the supervision of the Staff Engineer. Ensure all maintenance activities, inspections, defects and work orders are accurately recorded and followed up in Shipsure Maintain high standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in all assigned areas, ensuring a safe and orderly working environment and proper use, care and storage of tools, equipment and materials.

Maintain spare parts control for assigned equipment, including stock monitoring, requisitions, consumption tracking and preparation of orders when required. Conduct periodic physical inventories of spare parts and equipment as required by company procedures. Ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with VMS, MARPOL, SOLAS and all applicable procedures and regulations Ensure compliance with work and rest hour requirements for self and assigned personnel.

Maintain a professional appearance and conduct when working in passenger areas, in accordance with Company standards. Remain available to respond to operational requirements or emergencies outside normal working hours, as required. Prepare a comprehensive handover at the end of the contract, including system status, ongoing maintenance, outstanding defects and spare parts. Perform any additional duties as may reasonably be required by the Master, Chief Engineer.

Ensure that all operations are carried out in compliance with safety, security, environmental, and quality requirements, including the correct use of PPE, risk assessments, toolbox talks, permits to work, isolation procedures, and pollution prevention measures. The Hotel Engineer may be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and safe repair of the following systems and equipment, as assigned:

  • HVAC and ventilation systems
    , including air conditioning plants, chillers, chilled water systems, air handling units (AHU/FCU/SCU), distribution networks, technical space ventilation (non-ATEX), dampers and associated control systems
  • Refrigeration and provision systems
    , including cold rooms, provision plants, galley refrigeration units and associated equipment
  • Catering and hotel service equipment
    , including galley equipment, laundry systems and associated steam and condensate systems (distribution and returns)
  • Hotel marine equipment
    , including lifeboats, rescue boats, pleasure boats and associated engines and propulsion systems
  • Water systems for accommodation areas
    , including freshwater distribution, galley, grey and black water collection systems (until vacuum units), plumbing networks &…
