Test & Integration Manager - London - £75,000-£80,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus + Ex. Bens
About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Test & Integration Manager to lead the industrialisation of complex hardware and electro-optical systems, ensuring successful transition from R&D prototypes into scalable manufacturing.
This is a senior engineering leadership role combining technical ownership, manufacturing readiness, CAPEX delivery and team leadership
. Working closely with R&D, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams, you will develop and implement robust test strategies, production test capability and integration processes to support new product introduction.
You will lead the design, deployment and optimisation of automated test systems, production test benches and manufacturing infrastructure for high-technology products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Test & Integration function, providing technical leadership across NPI and manufacturing industrialisation.
- Drive new product introduction (NPI) from prototype development through to production release.
- Develop and implement test strategies, validation methods and automated test solutions.
- Design, deploy and optimise production test equipment, test benches and manufacturing capability.
- Lead CAPEX projects including equipment specification, procurement and implementation.
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering, Production, Quality and suppliers to ensure manufacturing readiness.
- Monitor and improve key manufacturing metrics including yield, test time, reliability and throughput.
- Support technical risk management, PFMEA, FAT/SAT activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team across test, integration, automation and manufacturing engineering.
You will be an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in hardware test, product industrialisation or manufacturing engineering within a high-technology environment.
You will ideally have experience in:
- Leading engineering teams supporting complex hardware product introduction.
- Electro-optical systems, photonics, fibre optics, optical communications or similar technologies.
- Developing and deploying automated production test systems and manufacturing test solutions.
- Taking complex products from prototype through to volume manufacturing.
- Working closely with R&D teams across optics, electronics, software or mechanical engineering.
- Using tools such as LabVIEW, Test Stand, Python or similar automation platforms for hardware test applications.
- Delivering continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
- Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Optical, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience managing engineering teams within a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, test integration and product industrialisation.
- Experience delivering CAPEX projects and manufacturing capability improvements.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and project delivery skills.
Experience with in optical communications, photonics, aerospace, defence, telecommunications, medical devices, electronics or other high-precision manufacturing environments would be highly advantageous.
