Job Overview:

The Senior Principal Structural Engineer is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. The Senior Principal Structural Engineer is considered a specialist in the field of Structural (Eng) and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the Engineering function.

The Senior Principal Structural Engineer impacts the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and works within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal Structural Engineer role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Structural (Eng) challenges.

Experience working with SURF Contractor is essential to be considered for the role.

Essential Qualifications and

Education:

Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in engineering.
20+ years of experience in Oil and Gas with a SURF major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail design for subsea development

Preferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of Professional Engineering Society as applicable.

Seasoned knowledge of engineering standards and specifications.

Good knowledge of engineering software.

Good knowledge of engineering software using ABAQUS and FEA Packages like ANSYS, SACS and Autopipe.

Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).Able to work independently.

Good working knowledge of English, both oral and written.

HSE, TQM, and cost-conscious.

Good technical structural knowledge.

Good organizer, motivator, and supervisor.

Keen on improving the effectiveness of the work.

Show flexibility and ensure proper hand-over with regards to:

The reassignment to other departments/construction sites/fabrication yards.

The replacement of colleagues during illness and holidays.

The provision of assistance to other colleagues with heavy workloads (also other projects) when possible/desirable.

The managing/learning of current working methods and software applications.

The reassignment to other McDermott offices.#LI-SJ1#LI-DNI#LI-Hybrid Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Perform conceptual, FEED, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards.

Proven and long term experience in designing subsea inline and separate structures including and not limited to: PLET (Pipeline End Termination), ILT (Inline Tees) and PLEM (Pipeline End Manifold) at various design stages including: conceptual, FEED, and detailed design stage

Apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge of the business to address complex problems and nonstandard situations.

Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and - procedures.

Manage own time to meet objectives and (as Lead Engineer) forecast and plan resource requirements.

Communicate and explain difficult concepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view.

Train/mentor other employees in the department.

Assist and monitor MOPEX offices on projects.

Demonstrate a good understanding of the other engineering departments.

Initiate interface with other disciplines to obtain input for discipline designs.

Demonstrate a good understanding of construction/fabrication yard and client requirements.

Demonstrate commercial insight.

Help maintain UNIFI.Prepare bid from sketching data, using experience.

Supervise engineers and designers.

Define scopes of work for engineering/construction fabrication yard.

Provide engineering support as required.

Perform engineering checks of drafting.

Perform engineering checks prepared by others within the discipline.

Perform design verification through single discipline check and assist with inter-discipline checks (IDC).Prepare MTOs of structures.

Prepare specifications.

Prepare subcontract.

Review vendor data.

Prepare technical bid evaluations.

Assist in furthering the department.

When acting as an Engineering Specialist, in addition:

Coordinate and check the work of senior and junior engineers.

Conduct peer reviews on request.

Provide technical assistance where required.

Prepare structural analyses and reports on calculations or perform specialist tasks (i.e., architectural designs, underground piping designs, complex structures,…
