Job OverviewThis role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing smart manufacturing systems for industrial clients in East London. The position requires expertise in integrating IoT-enabled automation solutions, robotics, and data analytics to enhance production efficiency. ABB Ltd is seeking a dynamic engineer to contribute to South Africa’s industrial modernization while supporting local economic development.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deploy smart manufacturing systems using industrial automation technologies.
- Integrate IoT platforms and AI-driven analytics to optimize production workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot system performance issues.
- Conduct feasibility studies for automation upgrades in existing manufacturing facilities.
- Provide technical training to clients on system operation and maintenance.
- Proficiency in industrial automation software (e.g., ABB Robotics, Siemens PLC).
- Experience with IoT platforms and cloud-based data analytics tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex system integration challenges.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0 standards and smart factory protocols.
- Excellent communication for client-facing technical presentations.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Software Engineering, with a focus on automation technologies.
Experience3-5 years of experience in industrial automation, preferably in smart manufacturing environments.
Salary650,000 – 850,000 SSP/annum, commensurate with experience and technical expertise.
