Principal Transport Planner

I'm working with one of the UK's largest independent transport planning consultancies
, who are looking to strengthen their London team with an experienced Principal Transport Planner
.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner looking to take the next step in their career, taking ownership of complex projects while providing technical leadership, developing client relationships and supporting the growth of the wider team.

The Role

As a Principal Transport Planner, you'll take a leading role in the delivery of a range of development-related transport projects, providing technical expertise and strategic advice to clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing complex development-related transport projects
  • Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
  • Developing transport strategies and undertaking multi-modal trip generation, forecasting and scenario testing
  • Providing technical guidance across transport planning and modelling
  • Using industry-standard software including TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions and Lin Sig
  • Applying relevant standards and guidance including MfS, DMRB, LTN 1/20
    , Active Travel guidance and Healthy Streets principles
  • Managing project teams, delegating tasks and overseeing quality, programme and budgets
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Representing clients at meetings, consultations and public inquiries where required
  • Supporting business development, bids and identifying new opportunities
  • Mentoring and developing junior and senior members of the team
About You

We're looking for an experienced Transport Planner with a strong background in development-related transport planning and the ability to take technical ownership of projects.

You should have:

  • Extensive experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Access Appraisals
  • Strong technical knowledge of transport planning, modelling and development proposals
  • Experience using TRICS, TEMPRO, Junctions, Lin Sig or similar software
  • Good understanding of MfS, DMRB and LTN 1/20
  • Experience managing projects and providing technical guidance to colleagues
  • Strong client and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
  • A proactive and commercially aware approach
  • The ability to mentor and support more junior members of the team

Membership of a relevant professional body such as TPS, CIHT, ICE or CILT would be advantageous, as would chartership or working towards chartership.
