About

The Role

As part of this strategic growth, STRABAG UK Water is seeking an experienced and ambitious Electrical Project Engineer to join its expanding team. The role will initially support delivery across major water and wastewater infrastructure programmes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on some of the most significant water infrastructure projects in the UK and Ireland, taking ownership of electrical and ICA packages from concept through to commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

This role is partnering with WTE Wassertechnik, Part of the wider STRABAG group and one of Europe's leading providers in municipal wastewater management -

Requirements
  • Lead and coordinate electrical and ICA design activities with in-house design teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with client specifications, applicable regulations, industry standards, and project requirements.
  • Review, challenge, and approve electrical design deliverables, calculations, drawings, and technical submissions.
  • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring robust and innovative engineering solutions are developed.
  • Support value engineering initiatives to optimise technical performance, programme delivery, and project cost efficiency.
  • Electrical interface, coordination with STRABAG global technical centre engineering team WTE/ 4K in Essen ensuring design are aligned with UK & Irland standards & specifications for the UK water sector
  • Ensure electrical integration requirements are considered throughout design development and construction phases.
  • Take ownership of electrical and ICA work packages from design through procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover.
  • Manage package delivery against programme milestones, budgets, contractual obligations, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation measures to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Report package performance, risks, and progress to the Project Manager and or Project Director.
  • Support the development and maintenance of project programmes and delivery strategies.
  • Champion STRABAG's commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with BS7671, Electricity at Work Regulations, relevant UK and Irish legislation, and client-specific standards.
  • Review and provide technical assurance for RAMS, permits, commissioning documentation, and electrical safety procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across project teams and supply chain partners.
  • Support incident investigations, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives where required.
  • Provide expertise in LV systems, motor control centres (MCCs), instrumentation, control systems, and electrical distribution networks.
  • Support the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical and ICA systems.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of PLC, SCADA, telemetry, and networked control systems commonly used within the water industry.
