Because engineering sits alongside other disciplines under one roof, the projects arrive early and stay in house, which means you shape schemes from first principles rather than inheriting them half formed. The sectors are varied, from education and healthcare to residential and commercial, so the technical problems keep changing.

You are probably a senior mechanical engineer at a firm where the interesting decisions happen above your head, or where the pipeline is one sector on repeat. Here you run your own schemes, mentor the engineers coming through, and work directly with the people who bring the work in. Chartership support is real and funded if you are still on that path.
