Contract
Our client, a leading entity in the energy sector, is currently seeking a Senior Surveyor to join their Land, Planning and External Affairs department. This is an exciting contract role with a hybrid working arrangement, offering opportunities to work across the UK. The energy industry is evolving to meet the UK's ambition of reaching net zero by 2050, and this role is pivotal in delivering the necessary infrastructure to achieve this goal.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing professional expert advice and technical support to the team Leading a team of surveyors and land officers on major new build infrastructure projects
Offering expert witness support in Public Inquiries, Compulsory Purchase and Land Tribunal cases
Undertaking valuations using a range of techniques and methodologies
Developing and delivering land rights and acquisitions from development to construction
Implementing National Grid's Land Rights Strategy and supporting policies
Reporting on programme, key milestone delivery, risk, and finance
Communicating and managing internal and external stakeholder requirements
Supporting Land Project Managers in project delivery
Providing technical advice to the National Grid Land Team Collating and verifying data/evidence for securing land rights
Liaising with stakeholders including National Grid, external suppliers, and third parties
Producing documents to an appropriate standard
Attending meetings or other forums as required
Job Requirements:
Degree/HND/HNC standard in a relevant surveying discipline and chartered
Experience in undertaking complex and high-value negotiations within the gas/electricity utility sector
Significant knowledge and experience in the specialist subject matter
Ability to function as a member of an integrated team with neutrality, assurance, confidence, and objectivity
Excellent communication skills, capable of dealing with people on all levels and supporting team members in conflict situations
Desirable
Qualifications:
Land rights surveying qualifications, preferably a Member of the RICS or similar
Project Management qualification (e.g., APM)
