Location and Working Pattern London-based, primarily office-based with regular client meetings, workshops and site visits across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Client Overview Our client is a global company expanding its Energy Infrastructure capabilities. They deliver complex engineering projects across a range of industries, focusing on innovation, quality and sustainability.
Responsibilities Lead the delivery of HV and MV infrastructure projects, including AIS/GIS substations, grid connection infrastructure and interconnectors
Develop and review single line diagrams, substation layouts, protection and control philosophies, and HV cable systems
Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, including internal engineers, external consultants and subcontractors
Interface directly with clients, utilities, contractors and regulatory bodies
Support the development of technical standards, team recruitment and mentoring initiatives
Review technical studies such as load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, harmonics and earthing studies
Oversee project planning, tendering and technical bid reviews
Conduct site visits, inspections and commissioning activities as required
Must‑have Requirements Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent8–15+ years’ experience in HV/MV electrical engineering
Proven track record in delivering HV substation projects up to 400kVStrong knowledge of IEC, BS, EN and IS standards
Experience in substation design principles and utility/grid connection requirements
Familiarity with design software and tools such as AutoCAD, ETAP, Power Factory and PSCADExcellent communication, reporting and client engagement skills
Nice‑to‑have Skills Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
Prior experience in consultancy environments
Experience managing or coordinating engineering teams
Knowledge of technical standards and procedure development
