TClarke are currently looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a major hyperscale data centre project in London, located approximately 15 minutes from the City.
The project is currently in preconstruction, with this phase running through to December 2026, before moving into full construction and delivery. With completion expected in approximately three years, this is a long-term opportunity to work on a major hyperscale project from early-stage design and preconstruction through to installation, commissioning and handover.
You will work closely with the Mechanical Project Manager and wider project team, supporting the technical coordination and delivery of the mechanical services package throughout the project lifecycle.
The Opportunity
This is a long-term opportunity with TClarke, offering the chance to join a major hyperscale data centre during preconstruction and remain involved through to completion.
With preconstruction continuing until December 2026 and the overall project running for a further three years, you will have the opportunity to build significant experience across the complete project lifecycle while working on one of the UK's major data centre developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Mechanical Project Manager with the delivery of the mechanical services package.
- Assist with the coordination of mechanical design, installation and commissioning activities.
- Review drawings, specifications, technical submissions and design information.
- Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, suppliers and other MEP disciplines.
- Assist with technical queries, RFIs and design development.
- Support procurement and the management of mechanical subcontractors and suppliers.
- Monitor progress against programme and identify potential issues or delays.
- Assist with quality inspections, testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with project specifications, programme and quality requirements.
- Attend design, coordination and progress meetings.
- Support the project team through commissioning, handover and close-out.
About You
The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer within an MEP contracting environment, ideally on large-scale or technically complex projects.
Experience with in data centres would be highly advantageous, although candidates from commercial, pharmaceutical, life science, healthcare or other complex MEP environments will also be considered.
You should have:
- Experience delivering mechanical building services projects.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, pipework, plantroom and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience working through design, construction and commissioning.
- Good technical and coordination skills.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Experience working alongside main contractors, consultants and specialist subcontractors.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and project delivery.
