British Airways Engineering Wales is home to BA’s world class engineering team, and we would like to welcome applications for our latest Mechanic vacancies within our Production department.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a hugely skilled and experienced team carrying out routine maintenance, servicing, repairs and component changes along with large cabin/IFE modification programmes on the British Airways wide body Boeing fleet of aircraft (777-200/300, 787-8/9) and from November 2026 Airbus A350-1000.

Working in the impressive and purpose-built Aircraft Maintenance facility located at British Airways Engineering Wales on Cardiff International Airport, you’ll be an integral part of a team of Engineers, Technicians and Mechanics working on every section of the aircraft to keep them in perfect working order. You will be provided with opportunities to develop your existing skills and knowledge whilst gaining invaluable new ones, setting you up for a bright future within BA Engineering Wales.

  • You will have an apprenticeship in a Mechanical / Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent qualifications
  • Have 3 years minimum experience of working on aircraft both airframe/engines and avionics
  • You will have good aircraft engineering hand skills and must be able to follow procedures and technical documentation
  • You will demonstrate good interpersonal and people skills and be an effective communicator
  • You will have good analytical and problem-solving skills and be PC literate
  • You can work with engineering and document management systems
  • You can work shifts. We currently work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. Days comes with a premium of £4,476.61 and Nights £9,399.48 per annum
  • Can work in confined spaces as required (fuel tanks)
  • Experience in a heavy maintenance environment is desirable but not essential
  • Experience working with composite materials or as a sheet metal worker desirable
  • Applicants must be able to provide documented evidence of recent practical aircraft maintenance experience, such as a Personal Experience Record (PER), CAA CAP 741 work log, or equivalent employer‑maintained task records.
  • Evidence should demonstrate completion of a range of maintenance tasks including component replacement, structural repairs, modifications, inspections and functional testing using approved maintenance data.

Candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to provide evidence of recent aircraft maintenance experience. This may include a Personal Experience Record (PER), CAA CAP 741 experience logbook, employer task records, or other recognised maintenance experience documentation demonstrating competency across a range of aircraft maintenance activities.
