At Stantec, our Process Engineering teams are helping clients tackle these challenges by developing practical, sustainable solutions across the water cycle.

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our growing teams in London, High Wycombe, Reading, Brighton, Southampton or Cambridge
. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and specialists across a varied portfolio of UK water projects, with opportunities to build your technical expertise and take greater ownership of project delivery.

ABOUT

THE ROLE

As a Senior Process Engineer, you’ll take responsibility for key areas of process engineering delivery across a range of water and wastewater projects. You’ll combine your technical knowledge with practical project experience, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective engineering solutions.

You will:

  • Develop process engineering solutions across water and wastewater treatment projects.

  • Undertake process calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and treatment process evaluations.

  • Develop and review technical reports, specifications, calculations and other project deliverables.

  • Take ownership of technical work packages, managing inputs, quality and delivery to agreed timescales.

  • Support process design development from concept through to detailed design and construction support.

  • Contribute to site investigations, asset assessments, optimisation studies and technical workshops.

  • Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and environmental engineers to develop integrated solutions.

  • Engage with clients and project teams to understand requirements and translate challenges into practical engineering solutions.

  • Support and mentor less experienced engineers, sharing knowledge and contributing to the wider development of the team.

  • Contribute to technical innovation, best practice and continuous improvement across our Process Engineering work.

ABOUT YOU Essential
  • Degree qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience in process engineering within the water, wastewater, utilities or related sectors.

  • Practical experience in process design, calculations, mass balances, hydraulic assessments and/or treatment process evaluation.

  • Good understanding of water and/or wastewater treatment processes and engineering principles.

  • Experience taking ownership of technical tasks or work packages within multidisciplinary projects.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to work with colleagues, clients and other project stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage your own workload and contribute effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or actively working towards

  • Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIWEM, IChemE, ICE or IMechE.

  • Experience working with UK water companies and AMP investment programmes.
