We are currently looking for a Design Engineer to work with a Tier 1 Multi Sector contractor with head offices based in North London, but projects across the UK.

This will be working across the Rail sector on both major projects and high profile frameworks, so previous experience of working on Network Rail projects would be an advantage.

Candidate Profile:
  • Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering
  • Previous Design based experience, either working for a main contractor or Design Consultancy
  • Previous experience working on Network Rail Projects
  • At least 2-3 years post graduate experience
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of the interface with external or in house design teams on behalf of the Design Manager.
  • Liaise with other departments and project teams within the Company with respect to design requirements.
  • Undertake site visits when appropriate.
  • Organise Pre-Construction activities, including but not limited to surveys, ground investigations, planning, consents, etc.
  • Allocate design tasks to individuals within progressive design review meetings.
  • Maintain detailed progressive design review meeting minutes/logs.
  • Ensure that the work in the department is carried out in accordance with Company procedures and that a high level of professionalism is maintained.
  • Ensure that chargeable work is identified and evaluated including the preparation of adequate records of time spent.
  • Ensure contract programmes are regularly updated reflecting actual progress is reported.
  • Ensure feedback on design work is collated and saved in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure designs fully address constructability, are practical, economic, and in accordance with current legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation detailed designs in accordance with current standards and codes including calculations, design risk assessments and sufficiently detailed drawings.
  • Summarise quantities relating to design tasks for pricing purposes.
  • Maintain responsibility for the storage, filing and archiving of documents relevant to the design tasks undertaken by yourself or your team.
