Well as the central project type, not a side workstream that gets squeezed when budgets tighten.

This is an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer position with a building services and engineering practice based in central London with the project diversity that location suggests. The day-to-day mix runs HVAC system design, plant strategy, compliance work across Part L and Part F, and the coordination needed to make a mechanical scheme deliverable inside a multi-disciplinary team. Tools you would expect:
Revit, Hevacomp or IES, AutoCAD, Bluebeam for coordination.

Two to five years of UK consultancy experience as the baseline. You can hold pieces of work without close oversight, and you are progressing toward Chartership rather than waiting to be told to start. Recurring themes on this brief: WELL, hotels, and commercial. Prior exposure to those areas is useful, not mandatory.

Intermediate is the stage where working habits set for good, which makes the environment you choose now worth more than a small salary difference. Here you will sit close enough to seniors to absorb how schemes are actually run, while holding your own pieces of work and building the calculation and coordination fluency that chartership reviews actually test.

Salary: 42,000 to 52,000 depending on experience. Working pattern: on-site, full time, based in central London.
