Job Description

Are you an experienced environmental due diligence consultant, skilled in uncovering environmental risks and turning technical findings into clear, actionable advice for decision-makers? Do you enjoy working across EHS and ESG topics to help shape sustainable outcomes for transactions and post-acquisition strategies? Are you a detail-focused communicator who thrives on fast-paced due diligence work, site visits, and collaborative problem-solving?

Your new role

As a Principal Environmental Consultant for Due Diligence (DD), you will be part of our busy UK transactions team supporting fast-paced UK and global M&A transactions. You will assist with the identification of key EHS and ESG risks and opportunities and provide high-quality, targeted advice to clients on both buy-side and sell-side due diligence projects

Our team advises on transactions across a wide range of sectors, typically including industrial, commercial and infrastructure assets and businesses, often for finance sector clients. We work closely with in-house specialists across several EHS and ESG disciplines to provide targeted due diligence advice. Our clients use this advice to support negotiations during the bidding process and to make informed impactful decisions on sustainability priorities post-acquisition.

You will play a key role in the team, principally delivering due diligence assessments, while also supporting project management and the development of client proposals.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Preparation of proposals, including pricing/budgets and timescales. Participation in client discussions and support with developing new client relationships.
  • Project Management and coordination of medium to large projects including multi-site projects over several geographies in support of buy-side and sell-side due diligence.
  • Delivery of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Limited Environmental Compliance Review (LECR) assessments for a range of sites, including more complex manufacturing facilities; including participation in management calls, interpreting available information and preparing focussed client reports.
  • Delivery of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessments of companies in support of buy-side and sell-side due diligence. This will include desk-based research (review of data rooms and publicly available information), participation in management calls, interpreting available information and preparing client focussed reports.
About You

If you have relevant EHS/ESG knowledge, experience in due diligence and want to advance your career in a collaborative team, we would like to hear from you. What matters most to us:

  • Relevant degree/qualifications. Ideally in environmental studies/geography or similar.
  • Sound understanding of UK environmental regulations and an understanding of key environmental and sustainability regulations in Europe.
  • 7 to 12 years of practical work experience in other companies where you have personally been involved in the delivery of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, LECR assessments, ideally including to ASTM standards, and ideally also ESG assessments. Have the ability to understand information quickly and work efficiently, proactively and autonomously.
  • Experience in supporting the preparation of proposals.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and be comfortable engaging with external clients and advisors.
  • Project Management experience.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to travel, typically within the UK and Ireland.
