Arup's safety risk and reliability consultants provide advice on safety risk, systems assurance and reliability engineering solutions on some of the most exciting projects globally.

Our Resilience, Security and Risk practice has consistently been at the forefront of the field since it was formed in the mid-1990s. The practice brings together safety risk and reliability specialists, threat specialists, physical and electronic security engineers, operational security specialists, blast engineers and cyber security specialists in a unique multi-disciplinary environment, helping our clients manage malicious risk, system failure and operational performance in each aspect of their businesses and operations.

Our Safety Risk and Reliability team works across a range of safety-critical and asset-intensive industries including rail, energy (nuclear, hydrogen), mission-critical infrastructure (data centres, hospitals), and emerging technology sectors. Our consultants are involved throughout the entire lifecycle—from research & development, input at strategic and planning stages, feasibility and concept design, to operations and maintenance.

The team uses its systems-based expertise to anticipate potential issues, identify inefficiencies, and help clients make informed, risk‑aware decisions that improve the quality, efficiency, safety, security, and environmental protection of their people and critical assets.

We're looking for Graduate Safety Risk and Reliability Consultants to join our team in the UK. You will join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards a professional qualification.

You will be responsible for understanding the client’s business, identifying risks systematically, and working closely with them to mitigate and manage those risks through effective controls.

• Work closely with our clients and project stakeholders
• Be involved in business development, bids, proposals and budget management
• Work confidently in a consulting capacity with strong interpersonal and teamwork skills

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

We're looking for Graduate Safety and Risk Engineers with curiosity, personal drive and technical knowhow.

As well as a strong interest and knowledge in safety risk, systems assurance, reliability and risk management, we are looking for someone with excellent organisational and communication skills and an understanding of the concepts of multi-disciplinary design, first-principles design, risk-based design and systems thinking. We are looking for someone who is collaborative in their approach but able to work independently to develop engineering solutions that meet the clients’ needs.

The following qualifications, attributes and skills are sought:

• Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Chemical, System, Reliability) degree on track to achieve a 2:1/60% or higher
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
