Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity with an established building services consultancy? Our client, an independent building services consultancy with offices in Croydon and Central London, is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. You will be working across healthcare, commercial, education, defence, industrial, leisure and public sector projects, the consultancy delivers a broad range of technically challenging building services projects.

• Varied Project Portfolio:
  Work across a diverse range of sectors, with particularly strong experience in healthcare and technically challenging projects.
• Technical Development:
  Develop your mechanical design, surveying, specification and project delivery skills while working alongside experienced Senior Engineers and Directors.
• Career Progression:
  Take increasing responsibility for individual project elements and smaller schemes, with a clear pathway towards Senior Mechanical Engineer level.
• Digital Engineering:
  Work with industry-standard tools including Cymap/MEPWorx, AutoCAD and Revit, while developing your knowledge of BIM, digital engineering and emerging technologies.
• Sustainability:
  Contribute to decarbonisation, Net Zero, TM54, TM65 and lifecycle carbon initiatives, as well as developing low-energy and low-carbon mechanical solutions.
• Flexible Working:
  Based in either the Croydon or London Bridge/Southwark office, with hybrid working available.

• Support Senior Mechanical Engineers and Directors with surveys, mechanical design, specifications and contract administration.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Undertake heat loss and heat gain calculations and size pipework, ductwork, drainage, plant and associated equipment.
• Use Cymap/MEPWorx and other relevant engineering software for mechanical calculations.
• Produce marked-up drawings and undertake CAD/Revit modelling where required.
• Work within multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with clients, architects, structural engineers and other consultants.

• A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Previous UK building services consultancy experience.
• Experience with Cymap/MEPWorx or similar mechanical calculation software.
• Experience with AutoCAD or Revit.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and relevant British Standards relating to mechanical services design.
• Good understanding of mechanical building services design principles.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to attend site visits and client meetings.
