About the Role

The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high‑performing Civil Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.

We are inviting expressions of interest from talented civil engineers at all levels, from Consultant through to Associate Director, who want to play a meaningful role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.

This is a rare opportunity to join at a key stage of our UK growth journey, helping to establish, shape and expand a civil engineering capability built on Egis’ global infrastructure expertise and long‑term commitment to the sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute/lead civil design packages, covering feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline and detailed design across major UK water/wastewater programmes (e.g. AMP8, WINEP, SROs).
  • Contribute/lead civil design packages of feasibility, optioneering, design and delivery for flood risk and erosion risk management and sustainable drainage systems.
  • Develop and review civil engineering deliverables including calculations, models, drawings and technical reports, ensuring compliance with CESWI, UK regulations, client standards and BIM requirements while promoting safe, sustainable and buildable solutions.
  • Attend site visits for data acquisition and meet site operators.
  • Engage in discussions and liaison with technology providers and vendors.
  • Support design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination, driving practical material selection and construction approaches (including consideration of off‑site fabrication where appropriate) within programme and budget constraints.
  • Provide design support during delivery phases, including reviewing contractor submissions, answering design queries, and supporting handover and commissioning activities when required.
  • Contribute to business development and work‑winning: identify opportunities, shape scopes, and contribute to bids.
  • Contribute to recruitment, team development, mentoring and skills development efforts.
Minimum Requirements
  • BEng/MEng (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer, CEng (or working towards chartership, grade dependent) with a recognised institution (e.g., ICE or similar).
  • Experience in delivering civil engineering design (ideally in the UK water industry), including taking the lead civil engineering role on a project or significant task.
  • Strong capability in civil design software and digital delivery environments, such as Civil 3D, drainage and hydraulic modelling tools, GIS platforms and BIM‑enabled workflows.
  • Solid understanding of CDM designer duties and sustainable engineering principles, with experience contributing to low‑carbon, practical infrastructure solutions.
  • Experience supporting projects delivered via frameworks, alliances and/or D&B models, including participation in design reviews and technical assurance processes.
  • Previous experience in a consultancy environment or engineering company or other relevant industry acting as a civil engineer.
  • The ability to work accurately and flexibly, integrating your work with other discipline areas whilst managing your own or your team’s work to tight programme and budget constraints.
  • Proven ability to prepare high‑quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations to a high level of quality assurance for a variety of audiences.
  • Be able to travel and visit operational works and construction sites as required, to act in a safe manner.
Desirable
  • Experience in water…
