Volunteer compensation: Voluntary, plus full festival access

Commitment: Part-time (Flexible hours leading up to the festival, increasing during event week)

Duration: July – November 2026

As the UK’s youngest BIFA‑qualifying and Grierson Awards‑qualifying festival, NEIFF is a rapidly growing, boundary‑pushing celebration of moving image art. For 2026, NEIFF is making history by launching a brand‑new Games Programme, becoming one of only three film festivals in the entire country to introduce a competitive gaming strand.

The Volunteer Community Manager for NEIFF will help foster, grow, and chat with its incredible audience of film buffs, game developers, animators, and indie creators. As Community Manager, you will be the digital heart and voice of NEIFF. You’ll be responsible for building hype, sparking conversations, and managing growing online communities across social platforms and digital hubs (like Discord, Instagram, and Linked In).

What you’ll be doing:

  • Chatting with filmmakers, game developers, and film fans in the comments, DMs, and community threads.
  • Moderating and growing our dedicated spaces for the new NEIFF Games Programme and core film strands.
  • Helping to amplify festival announcements, official selections, and sponsor spotlights.
  • Acting as a digital point‑of‑contact during the festival to capture the buzz and interact with attendees in real‑time.

Who you are:

  • You know how to write engaging, witty, and inclusive copy that gets people talking.
  • You live and breathe cinema, gaming, or animation (bonus points if you love the intersection of both!).
  • You understand how online communities tick, whether it’s managing a Discord server, building an Instagram community, or networking on Linked In.
  • You can manage your own hours flexibly and keep a cool head during busy festival windows.

Volunteer benefits are a comp full‑access festival pass from Monday 16th November to Sunday 22nd November, including:

  • All Opening, Special and Officially Selected Screenings
  • All workshops/Masterclasses/Courses
  • All 4 Industry Networking Events (including food and welcome drinks)
  • A ticket to the Closing Awards Gala – Includes welcome networking drinks, 3‑course artisan meal, table wine and entertainment.
