Sports Betting Trading Analyst

About the Role

At Longshot Systems we build advanced platforms for sports betting analytics and trading. We’re looking for a Sports Betting Trading Analyst to join our modelling team as a sports & betting market expert. You’ll work closely with software engineers and machine learning experts to provide domain expert insight and improve trading strategies for our clients. Your role is to identify strategy improvements and value leaks through analysis of client trading activity, historical data and your sport and betting market knowledge.

Strong passion for sports and sports betting, especially from a professional bettor perspective. Knowledge of betting exchanges, prediction markets, bookmakers (US and Asian markets) and general betting market dynamics. General sports fanatic who follows a wide variety of sports with a betting lens. Comfortable with Jupyter notebooks and data analysis in Python. Numerate, good with numbers and core statistical knowledge.

Hybrid working:
Thursdays in our London (Farringdon) office, flexible rest of week. Typical hours 10 am – 6 pm UK time, Monday to Friday. Flexible schedule to accommodate sporting events.

• Analyse existing automated sports betting strategies and identify potential improvements.
• Collaborate with software developers and machine learning experts to optimise and enhance trading algorithms.
• Develop brand new trading strategies on new markets and new sports.
• Perform data analysis on historical trading to support qualitative analysis.
• Conduct ongoing research on sports betting markets.

Required:

• Strong knowledge of sports betting markets across multiple sports.
• Strong intuition for spotting bad trading decisions and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in data analysis in Python.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work with large datasets.
• Strong communication in a predominantly remote environment, especially written communication.
• Excellent teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with software developers and machine learning experts.

Desired:

• Previous experience in professional sports betting.
