PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £43,000 - £53,000 (plus London Weighting) depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF

THE ROLE

Be part of the team that brings the nation's biggest music moments to millions. From headline performances by globally renowned artists to live coverage of iconic festivals, you'll help shape how audiences discover and experience music across the BBC's digital platforms.

The Music On Demand Video team leads digital coverage of major events including Glastonbury and Radio 1's Big Weekend, and programmes the BBC Music You Tube channel, one of the largest platforms for live music performances anywhere in the world.

The Production Manager will work as a senior member of the team, providing leadership and working closely with our commissioning unit to deliver ambitious and large-scale content campaigns for some of the biggest moments in the BBC’s music calendar across BBC iPlayer, BBC Sounds, You Tube and beyond.

YOUR

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Build and manage the Video On Demand budget - creating a robust and flexible financial plan to enable the Commissioning Executive to deliver on editorial ambitions across multiple ongoing commission strands and events over the year.
  • Establish strong working relationships with partners in CRBA, TV Commissioning, Live Events, and within the Content division more widely to understand and influence how funding models are implemented, and how we deliver new initiatives.
  • Build production delivery plans for all digital live music events, and ongoing commission strands working closely with internal partners and external suppliers.
  • Source and acquire diverse and cost-effective suppliers to help us find the most efficient means to deliver ongoing strands and events content across the year, managing our commissioning process.
  • Shape, build and manage a seasonal production team as required to deliver our editorial ambitions.
YOUR

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
  • Significant experience working as a Production Manager in a busy broadcast environment within Television, Radio and/or Online.
  • Strong and proven budget management skills – both forecasting, and reconciliation / reporting.
  • Proven understanding of complex multi-platform content delivery and live Outside Broadcasts.
  • Experience and good technical understanding of the planning and management of live broadcasts, particularly streaming to digital platforms, and edit processes for video and audio content.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels both within and external to the BBC.
DESIRABLE:
  • Strong technical understanding, with the ability to translate specialist and technical information between teams.
  • Experience of managing a team.
  • Experience of working within music content production, with an understanding of music rights and music reporting.
  • Familiarity with systems for booking freelancers, and for managing and reconciling of budgets
  • Good contacts and relationships with suppliers and freelancers working in the events and content production sectors
