VAT Senior Manager – Accountancy Practice London Hybrid & Flexible Working Competitive, based on experience A leading accountancy practice in London is seeking a VAT Senior Manager to join its expanding VAT and Indirect Tax team. This pivotal role offers a client-facing, leadership opportunity for a CTA-qualified accountant with VAT expertise to manage complex advisory projects, optimise client outcomes, and contribute to the strategic growth of the VAT service.

The Role Provide technical advice on VAT and Indirect Tax matters , supported by legislation, case law, and technical analysis Conduct VAT health checks and in-depth reviews to ensure clients’ systems are compliant and efficient Manage commercial aspects of VAT work, ensuring optimal financial outcomes for the firm and clients Build strong relationships internally and externally, identifying opportunities and managing expectations Advise clients on VAT structures to ensure compliance and timely payments Plan, manage, and deliver assignments to a high standard within budget Review prepared VAT returns and ensure technical excellence Lead VAT advisory projects, ensuring a practical, business-driven approach Contribute to winning new work through networking and proactive client management Liaise and negotiate with HMRC on behalf of clients Support cross-selling of VAT services across the firm and assist colleagues with VAT queries Assist the firm’s training function as required Ensure risk is managed appropriately while maximising value for clients and the firm Provide general support to the VAT team as needed Candidate Profile CTA-qualified (essential) Newly qualified VAT Senior Manager or experienced VAT professional ready for a senior leadership role Strong technical knowledge of UK VAT and Indirect Tax regulations Experience delivering VAT advisory services in practice or industry Commercially minded with strong risk management and analytical skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal Confident, tactful, and discreet professional manner Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously Strong IT skills, with the ability to quickly learn new software Team player who can also work independently What’s on Offer Hybrid working Flexible working hours Exposure to a wide range of clients , from high-net-worth individuals to large corporates Opportunities to develop technical VAT expertise and lead advisory projects Clear progression within a growing, dynamic VAT team Collaborative and professional working environment with career development Location London – central office location Next Steps For a confidential discussion or to apply, please get in touch Jack Wood on or
