The team & how they connect

This centralised annotation team consists of AI annotators with deep backgrounds in financial accounting, currently expanding to include global tax experts. You will work alongside the wider data annotation team and engineering departments, serving as the human‑in‑the‑loop to develop AI solutions within the Xero product.

The team is currently working on
  • Developing AI solutions within the Xero product ecosystem.
  • Designing annotation guidelines and advising engineering teams on financial data taxonomies.
  • Providing expert knowledge on financial accounting and tax tools to support machine learning initiatives
  • Identifying edge cases or anomalies in training sets to prevent bias or hallucinations in models.

Here are some of the things we are looking for
  • You bring in‑practice experience in tax accounting, with a solid grasp of filing and tax return preparation.
  • A professional accreditation such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent is highly valued to underpin your technical knowledge.

  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication and for evaluating complex language model responses.
  • Your toolkit includes critical thinking skills and an audit mindset to problem‑solve and ensure data integrity.
  • You demonstrate the ability to work autonomously and manage deliverables efficiently within a flexible environment.

Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
