At the headquarters of the AXA Group (GIE AXA), we bring together our corporate activities. The headquarters supports subsidiaries worldwide, coordinating and monitoring the Group's global strategy, applying its standards, ensuring consistency of commercial approaches and sharing best practices. Within the group, you will join the Group Research department as a G7 economist. This department encompasses macroeconomic research and environment and resilience research. Within this department, you will be part of the Macro Research team, which provides analysis and forecasts for both developed and emerging markets.
Your Role And ResponsibilitiesYou provide analytical support to the Head of Macroeconomic Research and main stakeholders by conducting economic analysis, developing forecasts, and contributing to research projects that inform strategic decision‑making.
- Formulate the baseline economic scenario for the UK, Japan and Canada.
- Forecast the main economic data and related financial market variables, such as policy rates, bond yields and exchange rate, for the UK, Japan and Canada.
- Develop and maintain econometric models or analytical tools.
- Identify and calibrate stress scenarios for the UK or Japan and its financial markets.
- Outline key themes shaping the UK or Japanese economy from both a cyclical and structural perspective.
- Write reports and publications for external distribution.
- Collaborate with the team members to build scenarios, gather insights, and data for research projects.
- Present research findings and economic forecasts to internal stakeholders in the investment and risk departments and to AXA local entities.
- Communicate views to external clients and the media.
You have proven analytical capability, solid quantitative skills, a deep understanding of economic trends, and the ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly.
- Minimum master’s degree in Macroeconomics, Economic Modelling and Forecasting or related disciplines, with skills in statistics and econometrics.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in economic forecasting for developed markets.
- Prior experience in covering the UK or Japan required; knowledge of another of the three economies would be a plus.
- Passion for understanding economic fundamentals and their implication for financial markets.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical analysis to diverse audiences.
- Self‑motivated and independent thinker with high attention to detail and good time‑management skills.
- Fluency in English; additional proficiency in French would be a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel; experience with Macrobond or other economic data providers, EViews and financial data providers (Reuters/Bloomberg).
