Finance Business Partner, FP&A – Clinical & Bio Pharma

We are partnering with a fast-growing, private equity–backed pharmaceutical organisation to appoint a Finance Business Partner, FP&A to support its Clinical & Medical Office and Bio Pharma Business Unit.
This is a strategically important role, sitting at the heart of R&D and clinical investment decision-making. You will act as a trusted finance partner to senior scientific and medical leaders, ensuring disciplined investment, strong financial governance, and clear performance visibility across a complex development portfolio.
The Role- Lead the annual budget, rolling forecast (24-month), and long-range planning for the business unit
- Build and maintain detailed project-level financial models across multiple development programmes
- Track monthly project performance vs budget and forecast, identifying risks and funding gaps
- Partner with programme and project leaders to understand timelines, cost drivers, and milestones
- Support business case development for new programmes, partnerships, and external opportunities
- Deliver robust management reporting, KPI dashboards, and variance analysis
- Strengthen project accounting, accruals, and financial governance processes
- Enhance budgeting and project tracking tools to support scale and investor reporting
This role combines strong technical FP&A capability with genuine commercial influence in a high-growth, investor-driven environment.
About YouWe are looking for candidates who have:
- Qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Experience with in pharma, biotech, CRO or life sciences (essential)
- Strong R&D finance, clinical programme finance, or project reporting experience
- Proven ownership of budgeting and forecasting in multi-project, multi-stakeholder environments
- Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability
- The confidence to partner with and challenge senior scientific stakeholders
- The ability to present clearly to senior leadership
Experience with in a PE-backed, high-growth or pre-exit environment is advantageous, as is exposure to portfolio governance, stage-gate processes, or pipeline investment decisions.
