Location: Greater London

Talentedge are actively recruiting for growing TV production company in Central London for a Royalties Accountant on a 12 month FTC paying £45-55k per annum depending on experience offering hybrid working (2-3 days in the office per week)

Overall purpose of the role

To manage the royalties reporting function for the group of companies
To forge effective working relationships with distributors
To receive, analyse, and challenge royalty statements received from the company’s distributor – format sales, finished programme sales, licensing and merchandising
To receive, analyse, and challenge music royalty statements received via the company’s immediate parent company
To prepare biannual royalty statements for all group companies and all profit participants
To post quarterly programme income to the correct cost centres and calculate accurate costs of sales accruals
To post quarterly accruals to the correct cost centres and calculate accurate cost of sales accruals
To reconcile royalty statements to the royalty creditor on the balance sheet, twice annually.
To identify and correct differences. To adjust cost of sale calculation going forwards
To reconcile royalty statements to booked revenue in the nominal ledger, twice annually
To support the FC with reforecast cycles – to receive and critique forecasts received from the distributor. To calculate forecast margins by brand and revenue stream. To comment on variances to expectation.
To build royalty trackers and calendars which may be helpful to aid the company in its aim for continuous improvement

The ideal candidate may be a

Qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
They will have several years’ experience analysing and preparing royalty statements in television distribution or in publishing or music.
A strong academic record coupled with an outstanding level of numeracy is required.
Strong Excel and systems skills will be essential.
The ability to read commercial contracts and determine the correct flow of royalties is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for their industry.
