Talentedge are actively recruiting for growing TV production company in Central London for a Royalties Accountant on a 12 month FTC paying £45-55k per annum depending on experience offering hybrid working (2-3 days in the office per week)
Overall purpose of the role- To manage the royalties reporting function for the group of companies
- To forge effective working relationships with distributors
- To receive, analyse, and challenge royalty statements received from the company’s distributor – format sales, finished programme sales, licensing and merchandising
- To receive, analyse, and challenge music royalty statements received via the company’s immediate parent company
- To prepare biannual royalty statements for all group companies and all profit participants
- To post quarterly programme income to the correct cost centres and calculate accurate costs of sales accruals
- To post quarterly accruals to the correct cost centres and calculate accurate cost of sales accruals
- To reconcile royalty statements to the royalty creditor on the balance sheet, twice annually.
- To identify and correct differences. To adjust cost of sale calculation going forwards
- To reconcile royalty statements to booked revenue in the nominal ledger, twice annually
- To support the FC with reforecast cycles – to receive and critique forecasts received from the distributor. To calculate forecast margins by brand and revenue stream. To comment on variances to expectation.
- To build royalty trackers and calendars which may be helpful to aid the company in its aim for continuous improvement
- Qualified accountant or qualified by experience.
- They will have several years’ experience analysing and preparing royalty statements in television distribution or in publishing or music.
- A strong academic record coupled with an outstanding level of numeracy is required.
- Strong Excel and systems skills will be essential.
- The ability to read commercial contracts and determine the correct flow of royalties is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for their industry.
