Corporate Finance, Financial Consultant
We’re delighted to have recently been joined by Tomas Gardfors to drive forward our Transition Finance practice internationally.
The practice advises debt providers, arrangers and sponsors on the origination and structuring of financing at both project and corporate level, as well as corporates requiring specialist finance to deliver their Transition Plans.
We are seeking a Managing Associate (5
PQE+) to help build this practice in London with an international focus. This is a formative role with early responsibility, direct client exposure and scope to develop a personal market profile. For the right individual, progression will be rapid, with early partnership a realistic and explicit objective.
- Advising banks, debt funds, sponsors, asset managers and institutional investors on transition finance at both corporate and project level.
- Lead the structuring and documentation of complex financings, including acquisition finance, project finance, private credit and, where relevant, government‑backed structures.
- Matters typically involve asset modernisation, operational change or business‑model evolution, often where assets are transitioning rather than already green.
- Support the growth of the practice through business development activity alongside partners, including participation in pitches, client meetings and market‑facing initiatives.
- Work closely with partners on strategy and market positioning and will have visibility across the development of the practice as it scales.
- Qualified solicitor with at least 5 years’ PQE, gained at a comparable top City law firm, with a strong track record in complex debt finance transactions.
- Excellent technical finance skills, including drafting and negotiating investment‑grade LMA documentation (or equivalent), and be comfortable advising on cross‑border leveraged finance, project finance and/or structured holdco finance, ideally on cross‑border matters.
- Experience is required in negotiating and documenting corporate and project finance transactions where transition‑enabling assets are central. Ideally, you have advised on financings involving one or more of the following asset classes:
- Digital infrastructure and data centres
- Renewables
- Clean(er) energy
- Large‑scale real estate retrofit
- Industrial platforms and decarbonisation
- Circular economy assets
- Natural capital
- Sustainable and synthetic fuel sources
- Agri‑tech and climate‑resilient food systems
- Water security infrastructure
- Flood defence and coastal resilience systems
- Strong appetite for business development, a strong work ethos, a team spirit and with the credibility and drive to originate work, build long‑term client relationships and establish a recognised market profile.
- Demonstrate the judgement and leadership required to mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the long‑term growth of the practice.
