Credit Risk Management EMEA consists of around 20 London-based analysts which work in one of four areas:
Financial Institutions, Sovereigns and related entities, Hedge Funds and Corporates. In addition, the analysts are supported by colleagues based in India. The department is responsible for analysing counter parties, assigning ratings, opining on trade structures and mitigating features, and analysing transactions. We work closely with colleagues in the front office, other areas of risk and in other regions. Each analyst is responsible for a monitoring and managing exposure to a portfolio of counter parties.
- This role would sit in the EMEA Corporate Credit Team which is responsible for approving Loans and derivatives transactions across a number of business units.
- The role would be primarily focused on supporting Nomura’s Infrastructure, Acquisition Leveraged Finance (ALF) and Risk Solutions (corporate derivatives) franchises in EMEA. The role would be an Associate position within the credit risk team, responsible for due diligence process, portfolio monitoring and assessment of underwriting risk.
- Primary responsibilities for this role would be to:
- Conduct credit due diligence on new transactions including business review, financial analysis, stress cases and financial modelling.
- Work closely with the origination team.
- Actively participate in credit discussions, challenging the deal teams and presenting credit views.
- Evaluate transaction structure, pricing and syndication risk.
- Produce credit risk memorandum focused on risk and mitigants.
- Brief senior management and liaise with clients when required.
- The candidate would also be involved in the loan portfolio management and the production and presentation of ad hoc analysis.
- In addition, the candidate would have the opportunity to broaden the scope of its responsibilities by exerting credit approval authority in other product areas including Corporate short term financing, private credit, fund financing and stock lending.
- In this role, the credit officer would work closely with an Executive Directors and VPs in the Credit Team, benefiting from ongoing support and training.
- Confident credit analyst, able to build its own credit views and to defend them strongly.
- Value added interface with business and senior management.
- Flexibility in being able to work on various transactions at the same time and to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of corporate finance concepts and cash flow lending.
- The candidate will have background in corporate credit with experience in Infrastructure desirable but not a pre-requisite.
- Financial/business qualification such as CFA/Master’s degree/MBA is an advantage.
- Previous experience in a similar credit risk department, deal team, rating agency or credit fund will be considered.
