Real Estate at S&W
The Real Estate Group at S&W incorporates people from across our Tax, Transactions, Assurance and Advisory service areas. In Real Estate Tax, we provide tax advisory and compliance services to UK and international property investors and developers, including funds and asset managers, REITs, overseas investors, house builders, owner‑occupiers, landed estates, and private clients. We also work closely with our colleagues in Transaction Services in relation to Real Estate M&A assignments, providing financial and tax due diligence, tax structuring and transactional support services.
Many clients and targets are international, whether investing from overseas into the UK or investing into assets abroad, and therefore many of our assignments involve working with colleagues from across our CLA Global network.
Purpose of Role
To manage the delivery of tax advisory & compliance services for a range of clients across the real estate sector. You will be expected to assist on transactional work and manage the delivery of tax structuring and due diligence assignments in connection with client M&A activity, including the coordination of work from specialist teams. You will manage junior team members, delegating and coaching to deliver on projects and develop junior staff.
You will work with the senior team to manage client accounts and help build prospective opportunities.
- Manage a portfolio of complex tax advisory projects and compliance assignments
- Provide exceptional client service, and help manage and develop client relationships
- Coordinate transactional work, delivering tax structuring and due diligence for real estate M&A activity
- Coordinate the delivery of specialist tax advisory work (e.g., VAT, Stamp Taxes, Capital Allowances)
- Project manage international tax assignments in collaboration with our CLA Global network
- Ensure compliance with the firm's quality assurance and risk management procedures
- Counsel and develop junior staff through delegation and on‑the‑job training
- Appraise and monitor staff performance, acting as a Line Manager
- Work collaboratively with peers in the team and across the firm to ensure a joined‑up approach
- Use network of established relationships to drive new business opportunities and cross‑referrals of services
- Build your own client and internal relationships
- UK corporate tax qualification gained within the profession and/or industry
- Strong awareness of specialist taxes and their application in the real estate sector
- Excellent project management skills, working with various teams including cross‑border work
- Demonstrable experience of managing people and clients
- Client‑driven and commercially minded
- Experience of dealing with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) and/or CTA (or equivalent breadth of knowledge such as a law qualification)
