Caravel is exclusively mandated by a leading, institutionally backed European real estate lender to appoint a UK Credit Associate into their London-based Risk & Asset Management team.
Our client is a highly active real estate credit platform with a multi-billion pound loan book and a strong track record across development, refurbishment and bridging finance. With significant capital backing and continued growth across the UK and Europe, they are looking to strengthen their credit capability at a pivotal stage of expansion.
The RoleThis is a visible and technically strong credit role, working closely with senior credit leadership across new transactions and the live portfolio.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining underwriting discipline, valuation integrity and overall portfolio risk oversight.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing development finance transactions from a credit and valuation perspective
- Assessing red book valuations, title reports and construction due diligence
- Performing second-level checks on underwriting models, credit papers and approval materials
- Acting as a first responder on credit amendments, waivers and approvals
- Managing valuation instruction processes and coordinating independent reviews where required
- Monitoring loan portfolios to ensure covenant compliance and milestone tracking
- Supporting the ongoing evolution of underwriting policy and internal credit frameworks
- Undertaking thematic portfolio reviews and stress-testing sub-portfolios

Candidate ProfileWe are keen to speak with individuals who have:
- Circa 5+ years’ experience within property finance, ideally development finance
- Experience working within a credit risk, underwriting, or valuation-led function
- Strong understanding of real estate due diligence (valuation, title, construction)
- Excellent numerical ability and strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail and the ability to clearly articulate risks and mitigants
- The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Surveyors with strong exposure to lender-side valuation processes who are keen to transition into a finance environment will also be considered.
