Interim CFO – Private Equity-Backed Professional Services Business

Stanton House is partnering with a private equity-backed professional services business with c.£300m revenue in the UK to appoint a hands-on Interim CFO on an initial 6-month contract (potential to extend or convert to permanent). Reporting directly to the CEO, this engagement will lead the finance function within a complex, multi-entity organisation and ensure the business is fully aligned to its ambitious growth strategy.
This role will combine strategic financial leadership with operational oversight, with a particular focus on supporting a business-wide transformation agenda (including SAP implementation), professionalising the finance function, and enabling an active buy-and-build strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, cash flow, and overall financial performance across a complex, multi-entity structure.
- Drive a finance transformation programme, including SAP implementation, ensuring robust systems, controls, and data integrity.
- Professionalise the finance function by embedding scalable processes, controls, and high-quality management reporting.
- Support and execute a buy-and-build strategy, including M&A activity, financial due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.
- Provide strategic financial insight to support growth, pricing, investment decisions, and commercial performance.
- Partner with the CEO, investors, and leadership team to deliver board reporting, performance visibility, and accountability across the business.
- Proven CFO experience within large-cap private equity-backed businesses.
- Demonstrated track record of leading ERP implementations (ideally SAP) within complex organisations.
- Strong experience within professional or service-based business models.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams through complex transformation and change programmes.
- Hands‑on, commercially astute leader, comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.
