Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our Investment Banking team in London
, with a primary focus on the Chemicals sector within the broader General Industrials division
. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile, strategic transactions across M&A, equity and debt capital markets, and broader corporate finance advisory. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capability, sector interest, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Lead key work streams across M&A buy-side and sell-side mandates, capital raises, and strategic advisory engagements.
- Prepare, review, and refine financial models, valuation analyses, and sensitivity scenarios.
- Draft and contribute to client materials, including pitch books, information memoranda, management presentations, and board-level documents.
- Support negotiations, due diligence, process management, and transaction structuring.
- Conduct detailed sector research across the Chemicals value chain, including specialties, industrial gases, petrochemicals, materials science, and distribution.
- Track market dynamics, competitive landscapes, regulatory developments, and potential deal opportunities across Europe and globally.
- Maintain and strengthen client relationships through regular interaction, idea generation, and ongoing dialogue.
- Supervise and mentor Analysts, providing guidance on modelling, research, and presentation development.
- Collaborate with senior bankers on business development initiatives and cross-border deal execution.
- Contribute to internal thought-leadership, sector insights, and marketing materials for the wider General Industrials group.
- 3–5 years of experience in investment banking, corporate finance, Big 4 lead advisory, private equity, or a chemicals-focused strategy/consulting environment.
- Strong technical understanding of valuation methodologies (DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions, LBO).
- Proven execution experience across multiple transaction types.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in the Chemicals sector (preferred but not essential).
- Excellent financial modelling capability and high attention to detail.
- Ability to perform under pressure, manage multiple work streams, and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with clients and internal stakeholders at all levels.
