Trainee Accountant - Tax

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious individual to join our tax team as a Tax Trainee. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in tax, with training and support towards a professional qualification available (such as ATT/CTA/ACCA). The successful candidate will gain hands‑on experience across a range of tax compliance and advisory assignments, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Transfer Pricing and Employment Taxes and will support the tax team in delivering a high‑quality service to our business partners.

You will be joining a collaborative tax team, where committed and enthusiastic colleagues work closely together, share knowledge, and support one another to achieve our agreed goals.

• Support the team in the preparation and submission of statutory filings, including Corporation Tax, VAT, withholding taxes, PAYE settlement agreement and statutory accounts tax disclosures
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of UK and Pillar 2 tax in the UK Division’s quarterly Earnings reporting, as well as Canadian reporting such as CbCR, T1134, T106
• Conduct research on and analysis of tax & accounting standards/legislation/guidance/case law and assist with technical queries for ad hoc projects and advisory work, liaising with colleagues across the business, HMRC, and other stakeholders to support management of the UK group’s tax profile
• Training and Development, as well as helping to maintain effective risk management of Tax across the UK Division

• Intermediate MS excel skills demonstrating efficient use of spreadsheets, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and digital tools used in tax, finance and insurance
• Ability to deliver work to a high standard under tight time pressure with attention to detail
• Has the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships, acting with integrity and role modelling the company values and behaviours at all times
• Can confidently and clearly communicate ideas and information
• Able to effectively plan, organise and execute their own work with supervision, making management aware of conflicting priorities and readjusting their workload accordingly.
• Good problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, being able to identify issues and interdependencies.
• Can make some decisions independently in order to progress issues but able to exercise sound judgement to assess when matters need to be escalated.
• An interested and inquisitive individual who is committed to their own ongoing professional and personal development.
