Finance Manager

Our client is a newly established, Legal Technology platform. They are a small, high-conviction team in the process of building a platform that is already reshaping the industry. Having made positive progress to date, we are assisting the firm to appoint a Head of Finance for the first time.

The appointee will have a wide-role and will initially be tasked with setting up the finance function as the platform seeks to expand, ensuring the right building blocks are in place to support the business as it scales.

• Preparing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cashflow statements, with commentary for the senior leadership team
• Owning the annual statutory accounts process, liaising with external auditors and accountants as required
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities, including variance analysis and scenario modelling
• Developing and professionalising the firm's financial controls, systems and processes and ensuring the ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements as the firm continues to scale
• Preparing VAT returns and ensuring timely submission and payment in accordance with HMRC requirements
• Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including supplier payments, client invoicing, and credit control
• Ensuring the firm maintains accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with CLC/SRA Accounts Rules, including the proper segregation and handling of client money
• Acting as the firm's nominated MLRO, serving as the central point of contact for all internal suspicious activity reports (SARs) and external disclosures

You must be a qualified accountant working as a Finance Manager or Financial Controller within the legal sector in London, ideally with exposure to CLC/SRA regulation. We can also consider qualified accountants who have been working in similar Fin Tech, Legal Tech or other Tech startups.
