Description

We are seeking an experienced KYC Manager to join and develop our KYC function and counter party due diligence capabilities at Peninsula, a leading global marine energy company.

Peninsula is establishing a dedicated First Line of Defence KYC function responsible for executing and overseeing all counter party due‑diligence activities, including onboarding, periodic reviews, and trigger‑event assessments.

As KYC Manager, you will lead the end‑to‑end KYC process, working closely with internal departments to ensure counter parties are onboarded accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with internal standards and regulatory expectations.

This is a hands‑on role suited to someone with experience who can not only shape and refine the KYC framework but also help build a function that will ultimately operate autonomously, with robust processes, clear accountability, and limited supervision.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the review and completion of KYC and external stakeholder’s due diligence requests for any and of the group’s related entities worldwide.
  • Lead the complete KYC lifecycle: onboarding, CDD/EDD, periodic reviews, and event‑driven reviews.
  • Perform identity verification, beneficial ownership analysis (UBO mapping), sanctions/PEP/adverse media screening, and risk rating.
  • Build and refine KYC workflows, checklists, templates, and file structures for consistency and efficiency.
  • Maintain a base set of counter party information for reference across different business functions and processes with Customer Relationship Module (CRM).
  • Appropriate escalation to Compliance / CRO / Credit of exceptions.
  • Support vendor selection and system implementation projects alongside Risk/Compliance and IT.
  • Enhance onboarding SLAs, triage processes, and case prioritisation to reduce cycle times.
  • Contribute to policy and procedure updates driven by regulatory change or internal risk appetite adjustments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for onboarding queries and KYC guidance within the business.
  • Provide line‑management support to junior team members, including guidance, feedback, and day‑to‑day oversight.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Hands‑on KYC/AML/Onboarding experience.
  • Strong expertise in Due Diligence, sanctions/PEP screening, UBO identification, and complex corporate structures – ideally from Energy Trading Background.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing or improving KYC workflows, tooling, and documentation standards.
  • Experience with compliance tools and databases.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both legal and non‑legal stakeholders.
  • Exceptional relationship‑building skills, fostering successful collaborations with key stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Pragmatic approach to overcoming obstacles and identifying workable solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business or related field.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel.

Desirable:

  • Experience advising, or working for, an international energy business with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong presentation skills, with experience in delivering engaging and informative training to non‑legal audiences.
  • Prior line management or coaching experience.
  • Demonstrable commercial insight into core business operations within the energy sector.
  • Proficiency in foreign languages, particularly Spanish.
