This role sits within the Relationship Services team as part of the Private Credit function. The team manages borrower relationships across Speciality and Wholesale Financing, monitoring existing portfolios and assessing creditworthiness for new and additional lending opportunities.

Role Summary

The Portfolio Manager will manage and support relationships across the Speciality Finance portfolio, working alongside Associate Directors and Relationship Directors on wholesale lending to non‑bank specialist lenders.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include borrower engagement, portfolio monitoring, credit reporting, annual reviews, in‑life amendments and new money transactions. The role requires strong financial analysis, relationship management and the ability to coordinate internal and external stakeholders to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

The successful candidate will manage their own time well, prioritising timely reporting and completion of tasks both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support a portfolio of existing borrowers as a day‑to‑day contact for queries, drawdowns, repayments and administration.
  • Lead or attend monthly borrower calls, using interactions to discuss trading performance, strategy, risks and funding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate portfolio monitoring, reporting and trackers including management information, borrowing base reporting, annual reviews and arrears monitoring.
  • Identify and communicate early warning signs including adverse trends, covenant pressure and changes in borrower performance.
Credit Committee & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Support Credit Committee presentations for annual reviews, amendments and in‑life cases.
  • Build constructive relationships across Relationship Services, Credit, Legal and Operations.
Annual Reviews
  • Own and coordinate the annual review process, managing timelines, information requirements and internal responsibilities.
  • Collate financial, operational, KYC and ESG information; contribute to and own agreed sections of credit papers.
New Money & In‑Life Credit
  • Support end‑to‑end delivery of new money transactions, contributing to credit papers covering borrower performance, transaction rationale and risk.
  • Lead or support in‑life cases such as amendments, covenant updates and security changes.
Documentation & Operations
  • Lead documentation for simpler modifications; support complex exercises.
  • Maintain loan management system accuracy and complete KYC, regulatory and operational requirements.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Ability to read, interpret and analyse company financial accounts, management information and borrower reporting.
  • Experience contributing to credit applications in a credit, front‑office, portfolio management or relationship management role.
  • Understanding of financial analysis and modelling techniques used to assess borrower performance and risk.
  • Experience in wholesale, structured finance, asset‑based lending or Speciality Finance is essential.
  • Experience managing borrower or client relationships across time‑sensitive, multistakeholder processes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with portfolio monitoring or CRM systems is advantageous.
  • A working knowledge of, and experience with using, AI platforms.
