Overview

As the Financial Crime Director, for the UK, you’ll play a key role in ensuring we meet the highest standards of compliance and financial crime prevention. You’ll lead efforts to mitigate risks, collaborate with global teams, and build strong relationships with regulators and enforcement agencies. This is a senior leadership role where your expertise will shape the future of financial crime prevention at Gallagher.

How

you’ll make an impact

In this role, you’ll lead the development and implementation of a robust financial crime prevention framework. You’ll act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for our UK businesses, ensuring compliance with FCA regulations and other legal requirements.

You’ll work closely with global colleagues to align strategies, conduct risk assessments, and implement controls to mitigate financial crime risks. You’ll also monitor and investigate suspicious activities, ensuring timely reporting to the relevant authorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the main point of contact between the UK and global financial crime teams.
  • Conducting regular audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and improve controls.
  • Building strong relationships with regulators, law enforcement, and industry bodies.
  • Providing expert advice on financial crime prevention, including fraud, bribery, and money laundering.
  • Leading training initiatives to raise awareness of financial crime risks across the business.
About you

You’re a confident leader with a strong understanding of financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance. You’re passionate about protecting businesses and clients from financial crime and have a proven track record of managing risks effectively. You’re also a skilled communicator who can build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Extensive experience in financial crime prevention, ideally within the insurance industry.
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK regulations, including the FCA Handbook, UK Bribery Act, and Proceeds of Crime Act.
  • Experience in a Senior Management Function (SMF) or Certified role.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and implement effective controls.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • A commitment to ethical behaviour and maintaining the highest standards of integrity.
