Treasurer local charity

What will you be doing?

As Treasurer you'll be a vital part of a charity devoted to community, well being, and the environment. We have a new centre manager with great ideas for expanding our offering and we're looking for a Treasurer with the financial skills to give him the support he needs. We have no regular funding so your input in building a sustainable funding base will be central to our success.

We're a tiny charity running a vibrant and busy community centre so the role is very hands-on and will involve connection with every part of our enterprise. You'll need to be comfortable with a varied role which involves everything from overseeing the preparation and presentation of budgets and financial statements, designing and maintaining robust financial policies and procedures, and advising on fundraising strategies, to maintaining our bank accounts and raising the salary payments of our two employees.

We've been through a lot of change recently, so we're looking to build a stable trustee board. For this reason we're seeking individuals who can commit to the role for the next three years, who are close to Tooting Common, and who are able to devote four hours a week to the charity. In return, you'll be part of a small, friendly and informal board of local people who work closely with our centre manager to maximise the difference our charity can make to our communities.

You'll also build a deep connection with a unique building in a stunning natural environment and with the many and diverse groups whom it serves.

It's important to us that you're local to our centre, The Woodfield Pavilion on Tooting Common. We're a charity that is all about local communities and engagement with our local environment, so we'd like you to be close enough to pop in on a regular basis. You must also be in a position to devote four hours a week to the charity and to sustain the role over the next three years.

As Treasurer you'll need a background in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or similar, and you'll have knowledge and experience of budgeting/forecasting and financial reporting. You'll combine an attention to detail with strategic thinking and and an ability to balance risks and opportunities. And given that the rest of the board is not fiancial specialists, you'll be able to explain and interprest financial information to them.

As Treasurer, you&aposll have a vital role as the financial steward of our organisation. You'll ensure that we have the monetary resources we need to fulfil our charitable mission, that we properly manage and account for the funds which we receive, and that we plan effectively for our long term goals. You'll be able to employ your finacial knowledge and experience to help your fellow board members meet their financial aims and obligations, while supporting the the day-to-day running of the charity with your ability to manage finances, maintain compliance, and deliver effective services.
