This is an exciting opportunity with dual responsibilities across Political Risk & Credit Lines both of which are earmarked for growth within AIG’s Global Specialty franchise.
How you will create an impactAIG is seeking a Senior Underwriter in London for its well-established Political Risk business which specializes in the underwriting of credit products including Sovereign credit, Structured credit & Project Finance products. The role is for driving business growth across the Structured Credit and Project Finance products.
Primary Responsibilities- Analysing and evaluating a diverse range of Structured Credit and Project Finance opportunities with a view to recommend (and/or approve) and price transactions that fit with in AIG’s risk appetite.
- Working closely with the Product Heads of Structured Credit and Project Finance to drive business growth across various underlying sub asset classes like Infrastructure projects, Data centres, Fund Finance, Nav lending etc.
- Establish and strengthen relationships with financial institution clients, distribution partners and reinsurers to develop and grow the business.
- Negotiate Insurance policy wordings with brokers and financial institutions and reviewing facility documentation.
- Preparation of in-depth internal credit risk (including extensive financial statement analysis) & other related transaction material in support of underwriting requests and recommendations and presenting to the credit committees.
- Proactively monitoring a diversified portfolio of Political Risk exposures to ensure compliance with internal policies and preparing regular updates and reporting for management (e.g. covenant monitoring, obligor performance, sector and country analysis)
- Ensure deteriorating obligor trends are timely identified and work jointly with Claims division to manage problem credits and workout situations
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably Finance related.
- Preferably at least up to 7 to 8 years proven experience in credit underwriting or banking / syndication / origination role, with a track record in managing credit approval processes and negotiation/execution of loan and insurance documentation.
- Strong Experience in lending products, various asset classes including Asset Finance.
- Extensive level of technical product & industry knowledge with excellent written & oral communication skills.
- Strong team player with the ability to work in strong collaboration within a Global team.
- Precedent of successful career progression demonstrated through experience.
