Vice President, Financial Advisory, Project Finance – London, Full time
Within GCIB, ESFO offers comprehensive advisory and debt arrangement for the non‑recourse and limited recourse financing of long‑term, capital‑intensive projects. Our specialist teams focus on power & renewables, infrastructure, natural resources and housing finance.
The Financial Advisory team spans all sectors and aims to structure the most competitive and deliverable funding solution for our client base, evaluating all available funding sources in the market.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, and/or provide significant support in most aspects of the execution of advisory mandates, including negotiation of the mandate letter, development of information memoranda, financial structuring and analysis, negotiations with funders, managing financial aspects of the due diligence process, development of key documentation and managing the overall funding process through to financial close.
- Manage and develop client relationships with key clients and related parties including lawyers, procuring authorities, banks and other financial institutions.
- Manage and develop relationships with key internal stakeholders (including coverage teams, SFCO, MUS).
- Assist in devising, refining and implementing the financial advisory strategy.
- Work with other MUFG teams to enhance the MUFG offering and client services.
- Play an active role in business development, proactively identifying potential advisory opportunities, preparing and presenting advisory proposals and materials, and ongoing ad hoc client marketing.
- Participate in all assessments and authorisation activities, including preparing the transaction for internal approval processes such as BCRA, Business Screening and KYC.
- Propose appropriate solutions to meet client needs in conjunction with other specialist MUFG functions to deliver a tailored solution.
- Ensure that business development, structuring and execution is market‑leading, sound and appropriate.
- Coordinate with international structured finance teams.
- Prepare and present internal committee presentations and papers.
- Travel overseas as required.
- Facilitate the marketing and origination of transactions with MUS employees in respect of the MUS product suite.
Experience from a structured finance advisory/product role preferred. Experience gained from within a project finance bank, boutique or DCM team preferred. Previous experience working in structured finance essential, some M&A and rating experience beneficial. Pan EMEA experience with different financing documentation beneficial.
Skills and Experience- Structured finance understanding required.
- Ability to lead on all aspects as part of a wider advisory mandate with senior support on more complex aspects.
- Familiarity with different types of financing documentation such as CTAs.
- Knowledge of credit, risk management, market and legal aspects of structured finance.
- Multiproduct experiences: bank, public and private DCM.
- Desirable: level of project finance modelling understanding.
- Analytical skills including the ability to interrogate financial models.
- Clear communication skills.
- Sound IT knowledge and skills.
- Quantitative and numerical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Degree level and/or relevant industry expertise.
Language SkillsForeign language skills (German, French, Spanish) beneficial but not essential.
